Unexpected Detour

Hi Everyone!  I apologize as I don’t blog very often–but try to do so at least once per month just to let everyone know I’m still here!  I participate on the forums every day, but can’t seem to come up with things to blog about on a regular basis.

Recently I had an “unexpected detour” on my weight loss path.  Two weeks ago I ended up in the local emergency room in excruciating pain on a Friday night.  I was admitted to the hospital, tests were run, and it was determined that I had an inflamed gall bladder and multiple gallstones.  They determined I needed surgery right away.  I was prepped for surgery and anesthetized, but when I woke up in the recovery room, was told that they were unable to do the surgery as they could not get the ET tube inserted.  Therefore, I would have to have surgery at a hospital out of town where they had more experience dealing with this issue.  It took almost a week to get the surgery scheduled at the other hospital, but I did successfully have my gall bladder removed a little over a week ago.  So, for over two weeks I was unable to exercise….and with that, my eating plan also took a detour as well.

I’m happy to say that I re-committed myself on Friday and have been totally on plan with my eating and exercise for Friday and Saturday.  Although I’m still limited for a few more weeks on what type of exercise I can do (limited to walking), the doctor said I can walk as much as I want at this point as long as I stop if I experience chest pain or have difficulty breathing.  I was able to walk 71 minutes yesterday and it felt GREAT!

I want to send a shout out to my Wild Cat teammates!  They are awesome!  When I was unable to do any workouts and was stressing about it, my teammates each took on parts of my normal workout every day for a week (in addition to their regular workouts) to show their support!  It was AMAZING!  They are really awesome people and I was overcome by this gesture!

I’m back on track and hoping to close in on the 90 pounds loss mark within the next two weeks!  Thank you for all of your ongoing encouragement, and I wish everyone the very best with their weight loss!!!  Take care!
